John Gottman is world-renowned for his work on marital stability and divorce prediction and has conducted more than 40 years of breakthrough research with thousands of couples.
Cofounder with his wife of the Gottman Institute, Dr. Gottman is professor emeritus of psychology at the University of Washington, where he founded “The Love Lab,” at which much of his research on couples’ interactions was conducted.
His work has earned him numerous awards, including the National Institute of Mental Health Research Scientist Award and the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy Distinguished Research Scientist Award.
Dr. Gottman was named one of the Top 10 Most Influential Therapists of the past quarter-century by Psychotherapy Networker, and is author and coauthor of more than 200 published academic articles and more than 40 books, including The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work, What Makes Love Last, and Raising an Emotionally Intelligent Child.
