Beth Mulligan, PA-C Mindful Self-Compassion and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction teacher
Beth Mulligan is a certified Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) teacher and international teacher trainer, passionate about creating a more inclusive, diverse, and compassionate world. In 2014, Beth was in the first group invited by Christopher Germer and Kristin Neff to attend their initial MSC teacher training. Since then, she has taught many 8-week MSC courses at the University of California, Irvine, and trains MSC teachers in the United States, Asia, and Europe.
Beth is a certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher and international teacher trainer, as well as an adjunct faculty member at the UMASS Center for Mindfulness. She is also the leader of MBSR teacher trainings at the UC San Diego Center for Mindfulness. She is currently working on two NIH grants on the benefits of MBSR for parents of autistic children.
Having practiced for decades primarily in the Zen tradition, she is also authorized to teach in the insight tradition. She served as guiding teacher of Insight Community of the Desert, a Buddhist meditation center in Southern California.
Author of the popular book The Dharma of Modern Mindfulness, she lives in Southern California in a house that she built herself and is an active artist and a board-certified physician assistant.
