Donald Altman, MA, LPC  Psychotherapist, international speaker and trainer 

Donald Altman is a psychotherapist, award-winning writer, international workshop trainer, former Buddhist monk, and past Vice President of The Center for Mindful Eating, where he still serves on the Advisory Council.

A featured expert in The Mindfulness Movie (2014), he taught for many years as an adjunct professor in Portland State University's Interpersonal Neurobiology certificate program. In addition to founding his own clinic, he has worked as a senior mental health therapist at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center's Intensive General Psychiatric Clinic and Eating Disorder Clinic.

Donald has authored several pioneering and acclaimed books on mindful eating and living, including The Mindfulness Toolbox (selected as the 2015 Gold Winner in the Psychology and Body, Mind, & Spirit categories of the independent book publishers' Benjamin Franklin Awards™), Clearing Emotional Clutter (selected as one of the Best Spiritual Books of 2016 by Spirituality & Practice), 101 Mindful Ways to Build Resilience, The Mindfulness Code (selected as one of the Best Spiritual Books of 2010 by Spirituality & Practice), One-Minute Mindfulness, and Living Kindness.

Known for creating experiential and engaging workshops, Donald has taught thousands of mental health clinicians around the country and internationally. He also leads retreats for mindful living and eating that blend ancient practices with modern science.
