Douglas Beasley, Photographer, founder of Vision Quest Photo Workshops

Douglas Beasley's personal vision explores the spiritual aspects of people and place and is concerned with how the sacred is recognized and expressed in everyday life.

As founder and director of Vision Quest Photo Workshops, Douglas facilitates workshops that emphasize personal expression and creative vision over the mechanics of camera use. He believes in helping each student find their own voice rather than making anonymous "pretty pictures." He is also the owner and publisher of Shots magazine, an international, quarterly journal of black-and-white fine art photography.

Douglas continues to explore the notion of what is sacred in his photography and in his own life. He intends that his photographs act as prayer-like offerings, meant as a departure point for the viewer's own visual or spiritual journey.

When not traveling, Douglas can be found in his passive solar home in Saint Paul, Minnesota, tending his Japanese gardens or enjoying a strong cup of coffee and listening to loud music. He leads workshops at photography, art, and spiritual centers across the United States and around the world.
