James Fadiman, Psychologist, author, and researcher

Called "America's wisest and most-respected authority on psychedelics and their use," James Fadiman has been involved with psychedelic research since the 1960s. A pioneer in the scientific uses of psychedelic substances in therapy, self-discovery, spiritual quests, and creative problem-solving, his work is based on more than 40 years' experience in the field.

James has founded a management-consulting firm and was the executive director of the Institute of Noetic Sciences as well as the senior instructor for Omega Seminars. He has taught at San Francisco State University, Brandeis, and Stanford. He cofounded, along with Robert Frager, the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, which later became Sofia University, where he was a lecturer in psychedelic studies.

He is the author of Unlimit Your Life: Setting and Getting Goals, The Psychedelic Explorer's Guide: Safe, Therapeutic, and Sacred Journeys, and a psychedelic novel, The Other Side of Haight. He is the coauthor of Essential Sufism and the textbook Personality and Personal Growth (both with Robert Frager).

James has appeared in multiple documentaries, including 2013's Science & Sacraments and National Geographic's 2009 Inside LSD, written a staged play, and produced several solo photography exhibitions.

An international conference speaker and workshop facilitator, he is a management consultant for various eco-conscious companies and has served on the board of more than a dozen profit and nonprofit organizations.
