Michelle Saahene, Speaker, facilitator, and cofounder of From Privilege to Progress
Michelle Saahene is a keynote speaker, social change agent, coach, and cofounder, with Melissa DePino, of From Privilege to Progress (P2P).
P2P is a national movement that calls on allies to #ShowUp against racism by understanding and using their privilege to speak up in their everyday lives and to amplify the cause in their social media networks.
As one of the women responsible for the viral video posted on April 12, 2018, of two black men unjustly arrested at a Philadelphia Starbucks, Michelle was the first person to speak up. Soon afterward, Melissa tweeted the video, which now has over 13 million views on Twitter alone. Without knowing each other at the time, they partnered to set off an international dialogue on confronting racism. Michelle and Melissa continue the conversation they started that day through social media campaigns and speaking engagements that create awareness and inspire action.
Michelle's work at P2P has been featured on Jada Pinkett Smith's Red Table Talk, NPR's Radio Times and Code Switch, Matter of Fact with Soledad O'Brien, MSNBC's AM Joy, and in numerous television, print, and online outlets.
A coach, facilitator, and keynote speaker, Michelle presents nationally to audiences ranging from eight to 800 at corporations, universities, nonprofit organizations, and conferences and events.
