Susan Anderson, LCSW Psychotherapist, abandonment and recovery expert
Susan Anderson is a psychotherapist who has devoted 30 years of clinical experience and research to helping people resolve their underlying abandonment wounds and overcome their "Outer Child" patterns of self-sabotage.
She is the founder of the Abandonment Recovery and Outer Child movements, and is the author of The Abandonment Recovery Workbook, Taming Your Outer Child, and Journey to Abandonment.
An experienced group therapist and workshop leader, Susan developed a parenting education program to increase community awareness about issues affecting children and to help strengthen family bonds. She runs Outer Child/Abandonment Recovery workshops and training courses for professionals. Susan appears at universities, conferences, and on national radio and television to increase public awareness and provide support for recovering people.
Her work and studies have included systemic family therapy, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, addictions specialty (CSAC), and bereavement. Susan has worked extensively in psychiatric hospitals. She treats myriad diagnostic categories associated with abandonment triggers and entrenched acting out behaviors, including addiction, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, conduct disorder, and schizophrenia.
