On paper, I'm a Harvard-trained doctor, board-certified internal medicine. I practiced primary care for about 20 years, and I've been a clinical teacher and researcher on the faculty at Harvard since 1984. That's my conventional resume. Also, I am the son and grandson of Jewish bakers from Brooklyn. As a child, I spent almost every weekend learning to cook and bake at my father's side.
