Join 1440 Adjunct Faculty Missy and Henry Webster, a Navajo family from Grey Mountain, Arizona, for a meaningful culinary experience in the Ancestral Kitchen -- an inspiring learning workshop instructed in the 1440 Teaching Kitchen and Joanie's Garden. Together with their daughters, Jada and Darion Babbitt, they invite you to discover the traditional dishes that have nourished generations while sharing the stories, cultural traditions, and wisdom carried through each recipe.

Through hands-on cooking instruction, you'll prepare frybread, blue corn mush, Navajo tacos, and a sumac dessert while exploring the deep connection between food, family, and heritage. Known for their warm hospitality and joyful spirit, the Webster family creates a welcoming space where cooking becomes an act of learning, connection, and community.

Gather around the table to cook, share a meal, and experience how food can preserve culture, strengthen relationships, and bring people together across generations. Carry the conversation from the kitchen to the table as you enjoy a seasonal, locally sourced dinner at the Kitchen Table following the class.
