Are you ready to shift your heart health?
In this Live Well learning pillar workshop, 1440 Adjunct Faculty member Dr. Darla Booth, DC, AFMC will guide you to confront common concerns that many of us carry about our heart health. As the number one cause of death in America, almost half of us carry at least one major risk factor for heart disease – but this doesn’t have to determine our fate. Learn more about cardiovascular disease, risk factors, environmental impacts, and how to manage them all from the perspective of a functional medicine clinician. Dr. Booth will share practical tips for advocating for yourself with your primary care physician and cardiologist, identifying and preventing disease, and optimizing your cardiovascular health through nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle choices.
By the end of this 90-minute workshop, you’ll understand:
- What is heart disease?
- Cholesterol: is it dangerous?
- How blood sugar impacts your heart
- Environmental factors that impact your heart
- How to discover disease and understand your risks
- What tests to request from your provider
- The role of medication
- Habits to stack for a healthier heart
Afterward, enjoy a nourishing, locally sourced dinner at Kitchen Table, featuring global cuisine prepared by the 1440 Culinary Team. This shared meal is an opportunity to reflect, connect, and engage with like-hearted community members while deepening your commitment to wellbeing.
As a nonprofit philanthropic campus, proceeds from 1440 community education class bookings contribute to serving our community by providing scholarships and volunteer services in support of creating hope for living well.
