Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the U.S., affecting 40 million adults every year. Depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide - one-half of those diagnosed with depression are also diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. Nearly 75% of people with mental disorders remain untreated in developing countries with almost 1 million people taking their lives each year - according to the World Health Organization (WHO), 1 in 13 globally suffers from anxiety.
While these disorders (panic, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, phobias, OCD, PTSD, PDD, and more) are highly treatable, only 36.9% of those suffering receive treatment and people with an anxiety disorder are six times more likely to be hospitalized. The Hope for Healing program seeks the generous support of corporate sponsors, foundation grants and donations - every $500,000 affords 1,000 individuals suffering from these disorders to benefit from this life-changing program and destigmatize mental illness.
