Albert Flynn DeSilver is an internationally published poet, memoirist, novelist, workshop leader, and speaker who served as the first poet laureate of Marin County, California, from 2008-2010.
A prolific and celebrated author, Albert is published in more than 100 literary journals worldwide, including ZYZZYVA, New American Writing, Hanging Loose, Jubilat, Exquisite Corpse, Jacket (Australia), Poetry Kanto (Japan), Van Gogh’s Ear (France), and many others.
Albert’s latest book, Beamish Boy: A Memoir, is praised by Kirkus Reviews as ”A beautifully written memoir . . . poignant and inspirational.” Foreword Reviews calls it ”A fascinating, poetic memoir!” His newest books, due out in 2017, are the novel, Brooklyn, Wyoming and Writing as a Path to Awakening, a nonfiction book based on his popular workshops and retreats.
A sought-after speaker and trainer, Albert teaches writing and meditation retreats at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, Esalen Institute, Shambhala Mountain Center, Omega Institute for Holistic Studies, and at writing conferences nationally.
