Program Description

Experience a unique opportunity to spend time together in fun new ways. During this weekend, you will slow down, explore, create, and receive support for successfully navigating and appreciating the preteen years.

Sil Reynolds and her 25-year-old daughter Eliza Reynolds welcome mothers and their 10- to 12-year-old daughters for a weekend of discovery and celebration. You will experience ritual, storytelling, art, and exercises in communication that build strong bridges of connection for the years ahead.

Together, you will learn how to:

  • Compassionately listen and share with each other, fostering mutual respect and understanding
  • Strengthen your mother-daughter bond in new ways, supporting the transition into the teen years
  • Enjoy spending time together in creative ways.

Mothers and daughters will also have time with Sil and Eliza separately for compassionate coaching. Mothers will meet with Sil to share the joys and challenges of mothering a preteen, including finding the balance of holding on and letting go. Daughters will spend time with Eliza and her team of teen assistants to express their feelings and visions as daughters and as emerging teens and young women.

Sil and Eliza have been leading mother-daughter workshops for over a decade and always create a wonderfully supportive community. You will take home special memories and a renewed appreciation for each other, with practices for deepening your journey together.

Faculty Bio

Sil Reynolds

Sil Reynolds is a nurse practitioner, therapist, workshop leader, and coauthor, with her daughter Eliza Reynolds, of Mothering and Daughtering: Keeping Your Bond Strong Through the Teen Years.

For more than 30 years, she has worked with mothers and daughters of all ages, helping them to create balanced and meaningful lives. Sil is a graduate of Marion Woodman’s BodySoul Rhythms Leadership training and has taken her expertise to Omega, where she has been an advisor and workshop leader at the Women & Power conferences.

A graduate of Brown University, where she majored in women’s studies, Sil has been a consultant to V-Day, a global movement and series of consciousness-raising events to end violence against girls and women. For more than a decade, Sil led Geneen Roth’s Breaking Free From Emotional Eating workshops throughout the United States and now leads Mothering and Daughtering workshops with Eliza.

Eliza Reynolds

Eliza Reynolds is a 25-year-old workshop leader, speaker, blogger, and “professional big sister” who leads mothering and daughtering workshops throughout the United States with her mother, Sil Reynolds.

Together they are coauthors of the book Mothering & Daughtering: Keeping Your Bond Strong Through the Teen Years, which was inspired by their popular workshops that help teenage daughters see their mother as a great ally while mothers learn to create safety for their daughter’s experience of becoming who she was born to be.

Eliza is a graduate of Brown University, where she studied gender, psychology, political science, religion, and dance. A certified teen mediator and SOS-trained counselor by Planned Parenthood, she previously taught with the Wayfinder Experience.

Eliza has created a Daughtering mentoring program through which she trains teenage girls as workshops assistants and group leaders. She is currently at work on her second book, examining the cause and cure for the teen girl body-image epidemic.
