  • Frequently Asked Questions in 1440 Multiversity
Is it possible for me to just pay the tuition and take a program without purchasing a package? No. 1440 is an immersive learning destination and all programs are packaged to include meals, tuition, accommodations, and signature learning classes. To build collaborative communities, 1440 requires all program goers to engage in social activity and learning as part of each program; therefore, you must purchase an entire program package when you register.
Can I attend a program at 1440 without spending the night on campus? Yes, in special circumstances where you are registered with a commuter package—see below.
What is a commuter package? Commuters attend and pay for the full program, including tuition and all meals; however, they are not provided with overnight accommodations. You must be a local resident or accommodations at 1440 must be full to be designated as a commuter and purchase a commuter package. In such cases, you must arrange and pay for your own accommodations off campus.
Can I stay a few days before or after a faculty-led program to enjoy the amenities of 1440? Yes, however, you must book a Rest & Renewal package which will differ from your package price for the program itself. Once confirmed, you may enjoy a blend of activities and free time at 1440 before and/or after your program. Guests booked under Rest & Renewal do not have access to attend any program sessions that may be offered before the workshop you are registered to attend; however, the package does include all meals, daily signature classes, non-ticketed evening events, and use of the private trails, Fitness Center, steam rooms, infinity-edge hot tub, and more.
What's the schedule on the day I arrive for my program? Guests may register at the Lodge after 4:00 pm. If you arrive prior to that time, you may leave your luggage at reception; you will be issued a temporary guest pass that will allow you to enjoy a stroll around campus or a signature class before dinner. Once your room is ready, you will exchange your visitor pass for your actual program registration badge.
  • Once you are formally registered, you may access Kitchen Table for dinner which is served from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, as well as attend an optional Welcome Session. Be sure to also register your cell phone number at the Lodge to receive schedule updates and make service requests during your stay.
  • Most opening night program sessions begin at 7:30 pm. If you plan to arrive late on arrival day, please let us know so we can be sure to accommodate your needs. Please contact us at 1-844-544-1440 (option 1) or [email protected].
What's the schedule on the day of departure?
  • Enjoy a morning signature class and breakfast before your final program session. Be sure to pack your luggage and leave it at the foot of your bed as the bell staff will retrieve it from your room by 10:00 am and store it at the Lodge on departure day.
  • You will automatically be checked out of your room by 11:00 am and most program sessions are scheduled to end by 11:30 am. On the day of departure, lunch is served from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
How many people will be participating in my program? Each faculty member determines the appropriate number of participants for their specific program content to provide the best possible social and learning experience for each guest.
Does 1440 offer financial aid or grant scholarships? 1440 does allow those in need to apply for scholarships and grants. Please see the Scholarships tab on our website for more information on how to apply.
Is there a wait-list if I want to stay for Rest & Renewal and the campus is full over my preferred travel dates? Yes. 1440 does provide a courtesy wait-list for guests who cannot be accommodated over their preferred travel dates; however, since guests are required to pay for their stays in advance they rarely cancel. It is to your advantage to have alternative travel date options.
How can I obtain information about a specific program or category of programs I am interested in? A full listing of current programs offered is listed at 1440.org. The site offers search sorting options and is maintained in real time so all the information you might need can and should be accessed there.
How can I learn more about the faculty teaching at 1440? 1440.org includes a brief biographical overview of the faculty for each program. Additionally, our faculty are highly regarded and many share content with the world on their own websites and via YouTube. 1440 offers over 300 programs each year, so it is not prudent to call the reservation department for more information about specific faculty as the website has all the current information available.
What things should I bring with me to retreat at 1440? Bedding, towels, eco-friendly shampoo/body wash and an alarm clock are provided in each room. We also provide blankets, yoga sticky mats, yoga straps, and yoga blocks for yoga classes on a first-come basis.
What should I pack in terms of necessities? 1440 recommends guests bring the following items to ensure a more enjoyable stay on campus: camera, hat, refillable water bottle, sunscreen, notepad, sunglasses, jacket, tea bags, and bathroom essentials.
What kind of clothing is acceptable on campus and what should I pack? Comfortable clothing for yoga and movement is acceptable in all classrooms. Slip-on shoes for indoors and shared bathrooms are recommended as are alternative shoes for walking, hiking, and exercising. Keep in mind that 1440 is susceptible to seasonal weather, so depending on your activity intentions it is good to pack a bathing suit for the infinity-edge hot tub in the Healing Arts center, in addition to layered clothing or jackets for inclement weather.
